The SOCA Board of Directors has determined that pursuing a continued season for the Adult Leagues is no longer feasible this spring. We are extremely disappointed by this eventuality and know that you and your teammates are as well. Executive Order #55 limiting gatherings to fewer than ten people is in effect through June 10 and unlikely to be shortened. For the safety and well-being of our participants and the larger community, we understand and support the Governor’s orders. SOCA needs to do its part to break a substantial potential chain of virus transmission.

SOCA leadership considered various spring season options including further postponement and/or conducting a shortened summer season. Unfortunately, those options are not logistically possible for a program of this size. Field availability, referee availability, player availability, as well as other resources are in shorter supply in the summer months and not sufficient to conduct this program.

SOCA has made the difficult decision to cancel now so that folks that need refunds can receive them promptly and everyone can move ahead with future plans.

SOCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and relies on registration fees to provide consistent income necessary to offer quality programs for local residents. Truthfully, many costs of operating this specific program, staff time, and club operations have been expended despite the forced cancelation. With those factors in mind, the Board has decided to offer a refund opportunity of approximately 50% of the registration fee to those registrants who seek reimbursement. The refund is available to players who paid the original fee in full and requests are to be made by May 15, 2020.

Please know that the pandemic-forced shutdown is creating a fiscal crisis for SOCA. SOCA staff have agreed to a pay reduction in the coming months, as needed, during this time. If you are in a position to donate your registration fee for the spring you may designate the full or partial amount of the fee as a tax-deductible charitable donation. As part of the recently passed CARES Act there is a Charitable Giving Incentive which creates a new above-the-line deduction for charitable contributions up to $300. We will provide a tax receipt of your donation upon request.

To receive a refund please email SOCA’s Administrator Sunny Herold at Sunny.Herold@SOCAspot.org. Please include a short message indicating who you you are and the program/team in which you are registered. Refunds will be provided in the form of a check mailed to the address on file in your SOCA account. Checks are cut weekly and due to the expected volume please allow up to three weeks for delivery. Once again, partial refunds are available for participants who paid in full and requests need to be made by May 15.

We are not able to provide credit for future programs unfortunately. This refund is the opportunity to receive partial reimbursement for this lost season.
