SOCA Technical Staff Confirmed for Fall 2026

Club welcomes several new staff members as part of reorganization of Technical Department.

SOCA recently completed a reorganization of its Coaching Directors and is welcoming several new faces to the full-time staff for Fall 2026.  With the new additions and new assignments for several existing directors, the club is excited and well positioned for the upcoming season.

Gabe Renes is joining SOCA as the new Coordinator of the Challenge Program.  Gabe will be filling the shoes of Mac Phillips who is departing to take a position on the Richmond Kickers professional team staff.  In addition to running the Challenge Program, Gabe will be coaching two SOCA Regional League teams.  Gabe is coming to SOCA via Tennessee where he has been on the Girls Academy staff at One Knoxville soccer club.  Previously, Gabe coached in Richmond for Cosby High School and FC Richmond.

Long-time SOCA coach David Rivera has come on board the full-time staff as the new Director of Coaching for SOCA’s VCSL travel teams.  Dave has coached extensively with SOCA for many years, coaching teams at all levels, ages and genders.  He was previously the head coach of the Monticello High School Varsity boys team.  Rivera will now be coaching and directing the SOCA Blue and White travel teams that compete in the Virginia Club Soccer League.

With the addition of Rivera to the staff, SOCA DOC Philip Silverman has moved into the Regional League Director role previously occupied by Tyler Hudson.  Silverman has been with SOCA since 2022 and is entering his fifth year with the club.  During his time working with SOCA’s Blue and White teams in both the VCSL and NPL, Silverman oversaw a 100% increase in participation with 11v11 teams in his charge growing from 9 to 18.  Silverman has coached up and down the slate leading multiple teams to league titles and developing numerous players for more advanced levels of play.

Tyler Hudson was announced as the new Girls Academy Director for Skyline Elite earlier this summer.  Hudson successfully ran the SOCA Regional League program for two years leading the club to its best results in ECNL RL history.  This past year SOCA placed two teams in the statewide postseason playoffs.

Please join us in welcoming these new staff members and congratulating Tyler and Phil on their new positions.  Fall 26 coaching slates have been updated to account for the new staffing and the club is excited for a successful season.  Pre-season training begins with practices in August.
