New to the next year of play, US Soccer has moved to seasonal or school year based age groups. Age groups in which teams are formed will be based on a year that starts on August 1st and ends on July 31st (ex: the U12 age group will be for players born between Aug 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015).
Click here for more info on the new age groups.
Player placements for SOCA’s Travel and Challenge programs are free and open to anyone with interest of the appropriate age and gender. All spots on all SOCA teams are open each year and candidates must be evaluated each year to earn a spot on the team. Placement sessions consist primarily of different scrimmage games. Candidates should come prepared to play soccer for the duration of the session. All candidates should allow 20 minutes for check-in/registration. Please bring the following items with you to the session: a properly inflated/appropriate sized ball, water, proper footwear, shin guards, and clothing appropriate for the weather.
Team placement is determined by SOCA staff and is intended to place players at appropriate levels of play. Players may receive placements in the SOCA Travel program, Challenge program or may be recommended for participation in the Recreational program. It is highly recommended to attend both sessions. However, attending one session is better than none. Candidates will be considered with only one session if necessary.
