SOCA Wins Three Initial President’s Cup Matches

For the first time SOCA Premier teams are participating in the President’s Cup, a state-wide championship competition for teams below the elite level.  The competition format is single elimination knock-out style, similar to the State Cup.

SOCA-Charlottesville Premier teams began their pursuit of President’s Cup glory on Saturday, September 14, with six matches against state-wide opponents.  Three SOCA teams won their opening match and have advanced to the next round.

U16 Boys were 4-2 winners over LMVSC, and both the U15 Girls ( vs Shenandoah FC) and the U14 Boys (vs Woodbridge White) were narrow 1-0 winners in their matches.  The U16 and U14 Boys will next play on September 28, and the U15 Girls will resume action on October 5.

Joining the action on September 28 in their initial Cup matches are the U16 Girls and U17 Girls, while the U13 Girls take action on October 5.

Virginia President’s Cup champions will advance to regional competition, with a chance to play for a national title.
