Elite and Charlottesville Premier Weekend Wrap-up

The SOCA Travel program is hitting the midpoint of the spring season, with most teams completing about half of their spring campaign to date. This past weekend South Fork Soccer Park hosted exciting action at both the Elite and Premier levels.

On Sunday, April 17, in Elite level Club Champions League competition, SOCA was able to get even results against northern Virginia giant Loudoun SC. SOCA won four and lost four matches in an overall balanced match day competition.

SOCA’s U12 Boys Apprentice team maintained their division leading status by virtue of a 6-0 win. The game provided an emotional lift after the boys lost a penalty kick shootout heart breaker the day before in State Cup play. The SOCA U12’s battled to a 5-5 draw through regulation and overtime in the Cup match on Saturday, before falling in PK’s. The win on Sunday will go a long way toward rebuilding confidence in the young squad.

SOCA’s U13 Girls Elite claimed an important 3-1 win which enabled them to move ahead in the highly competitive league standings, joining the top third of the table.

The U13 Boys claimed their closely contested 1-0 win by virtue of a goalkeeper save on a penalty kick, the last kick of the game, to preserve the victory.
