*** All 2020 tryouts are currently postponed due to the spread of the corona virus and state mandated social distancing. As soon as information is available on when we may return to play safely, new dates and tryout information will be distributed. ***
Players are expected to pre-register for Annual Tryouts via their online SOCA Account. If you are unable to register online, please call 434-975-5025 ext. 111 for Charlottesville and 540-466-1581 ext. 203 for Augusta.
SOCA’s annual tryouts are conducted each spring (April and May) for the following fall and spring Travel and Challenge teams. See the current year tryout schedule. SOCA’s Annual tryouts are open to any interested player of the appropriate age and gender. All spots on all teams are open each year and candidates must tryout each year to earn a spot on the team. There is no automatic carry-over from one year to the next. Performance, attendance and attitude from previous soccer seasons will be considered. When possible, different select programs within the same age group will tryout at the same time and facility to help facilitate the team placement process (example: U12 Boys Travel & U12 Boys Challenge).
Coaches will likely not be assigned to all fall teams at the time of tryouts. Some coaches are assigned later in the spring/summer. In limited cases teams will be announced without a coach at the conclusion of tryout and SOCA will utilize the summer to find the most qualified and suitable coach prior to the start of the season in August.
Annual Tryout selections/announcements will be posted on May 30 via your family’s SOCA Account. Tryout results will not be mailed. Email notifications will prompt you to review your selection and placement in your personal SOCA account. On your SOCA account’s home page, selection will be shown by a team placement next to the player’s name or the delineation “not selected”. Your SOCA account can only be viewed by utilizing your private username and password.
Please check your SOCA account by June 5 at the latest to register for the fall season. You must register online by June 5 for your fall Travel or Challenge team or risk forfeiting your spot to another candidate. Players seeking financial assistance need to contact the SOCA office, establish a plan and make an initial payment by June 6 to be considered registered in good standing for the fall season.
