Welcome to the SOCA 2018 Advanced Training Program
The SOCA Advanced Training Program (ATP) enhances the skill development of individual players through active training games and fun, skill-building activities. ATP is a great way for Recreation and Challenge players to get an extra, quality training session each week. Typically each training session will be composed of three main parts: individual technical skill development, small group training activities specific to the daily topic, and small sided game play.
The program is targeted toward eager players seeking advancement and is accepting boys and girls players U8 and U10. Training is conducted by fully licensed SOCA staff members and additional certified staff. The program is under the direct supervision of SOCA Director of Soccer, Bill Mueller. ATP sessions and training groups are limited in size to ensure appropriate coach-to-player ratio. The program will run for six consecutive weeks meeting once per week at the same day, location and time, with a reserved make-up date in the event of inclement weather cancelation.
Advanced Training Program
ATP focuses on technical skill development through dynamic activities. Topics will include: dribbling, 1v1 attacking, receiving, passing, shooting, controlling the ball and solving tactical issues through ball mastery. The primary focus will be developing individual ball skills and their application to the game.
Players will train in a small group setting.
The age groups accepted in this sessions are: U7/U8 (born 2010, 2011); U9/U10 (born 2008, 2009).
This ATP session will be held on Friday evenings from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm at Crozet Park. ATP will begin on Friday, March 16 and runs six (6) consecutive weeks through Friday, April 20. Friday, April 27 will be the reserved make-up date in the event of cancellation due to inclement weather.
Players should wear proper soccer shoes, shin guards and appropriate soccer gear for the prevailing weather conditions. Players should also bring a properly inflated soccer ball of appropriate size for their age group, and a water bottle.
The registration deadline is March 14. The program is limited in size. There are no refunds after the registration deadline.
