Welcome to the SOCA 2018 Advanced Training Program
The SOCA Advanced Training Program for Goalkeepers (ATP-GK) enhances the skill development of individual players through active training games and fun, skill-building activities. ATP-GK is a great way for Recreation and Challenge goalkeepers to get an specialized extra, quality training session each week. The program is targeted toward eager players seeking advancement and is accepting all goalkeepers U9 through U15. Training is conducted by goalkeeping instructors, fully licensed SOCA staff members and additional certified staff. The program is under the direct supervision of SOCA Director of Soccer, Bill Mueller.
ATP sessions and training groups are limited in size to ensure appropriate coach-to-player ratio. The program will run for six consecutive weeks meeting once per week at the same day, location and time, with a reserved make-up date in the event of inclement weather cancelation.
Advanced Training Program-Goalkeeper
ATP focuses on technical skill development through dynamic activities. Topics will include: catching, handling, footwork, dealing with crosses, diving, positioning, 1v1 breakaways. The primary focus will be developing individual GK skills and their application to the game.
Players will train in a group setting with eligible players included as follows: U9/U10 (born 2008, 2009), U11/U12 (born 2006, 2007), U13/U14/15 (born 2003-2005).
ATP-GK provides focused, specialized training for developing goalkeepers. It is sometimes difficult to receive goalkeeper-specific training during normal team training, and this program focuses entirely on providing specific training for goalkeepers.
This ATP session will be held on Friday evenings from 5:00 pm-6:00 pm at South Fork Soccer Park. ATP will begin on Friday, March 16 and runs six (6) consecutive weeks through Friday, April 20. Friday, April 27 will be the reserved make-up date in the event of cancellation due to inclement weather.
Players should wear proper soccer shoes, shin guards, goalkeeping gloves, and appropriate soccer gear for the prevailing weather conditions. Players should also bring a properly inflated soccer ball of appropriate size for their age group, and a water bottle.
The registration deadline is March 14. The program is limited in size. There are no refunds after the registration deadline.
