An event every week that begins at 6:00pm on Monday, repeating until February 12, 2018
2018 Winter Academy: U8 Skill Builder (Monday @ Charlottesville Day School, 6:00-7:00 pm)
Welcome to the SOCA 2018 Winter Academy
The Academy offers a focused training environment that is age and skill appropriate. Typically each training session will be composed of three main parts: individual technical skill development, small group training activities specific to the daily topic, and small sided game play. Academy instruction is provided by SOCA staff coaches and each Academy is limited in size to ensure appropriate coach-to-player ratio. Each player will receive a Winter Academy T-shirt. Each program will run for six consecutive weeks meeting once per week at the same day, location and time, with a reserved make-up date in the event of inclement weather cancelation.
U8 Skill Builder Winter Academy
This Academy will focus on fundamental ball skills in a fun environment using active game learning activities. Players will learn basic dribbling techniques using different surfaces of both feet. They will be introduced to essential passing, receiving and shooting techniques in dynamic small group settings. Each session will include technical work followed by games to goals.
Sessions meet weekly on Mondays, 6:00-7:00 pm, at Charlottesville Day School, 320 10th St NE, Charlottesville, VA 22902. Academy begins Monday, January 8 and runs through February 12. There will be a makeup date of February 19 in case of inclement weather.
Players should wear indoor soccer shoes (or sneakers), shin guards and appropriate soccer gear. Players should also bring a properly inflated size 3 soccer ball and water bottle. The surface is a gym floor, no cleats are allowed, only flat shoes.
This program is limited to 12 players. There are no refunds after the registration deadline of December 12.
