An event every week that begins at 6:30pm on Tuesday, repeating until February 13, 2018
2018 Winter Academy: U10 Boys Footskills (Tuesday @ Venable Elementary School, 6:30-7:30 pm)
Welcome to the SOCA 2018 Winter Academy
The Academy offers a focused training environment that is age and skill appropriate. Typically each training session will be composed of three main parts: individual technical skill development, small group training activities specific to the daily topic, and small sided game play. Academy instruction is provided by SOCA staff coaches and each Academy is limited in size to ensure appropriate coach-to-player ratio. Each player will receive a Winter Academy T-shirt. Each program will run for six consecutive weeks meeting once per week at the same day, location and time, with a reserved make-up date in the event of inclement weather cancelation.
U10 Boys Footskills Winter Academy
The Footskills Winter Academy will focus on mastering the ball. Topics will include 1v1 attacking, receiving, turning, controlling the ball and solving tactical issues through ball mastery. The primary focus will be individual ball skills and proper ball mastery techniques using different surfaces of both feet. Each session will include technical skills training, dynamic group training activities and games to goals.
Sessions meet weekly on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, at Venable Elementary School, 406 14th St NW, Charlottesville, VA 22903. Academy begins Tuesday, January 9 and runs through February 13. There will be a makeup date of February 20 in case of inclement weather.
Players should wear indoor soccer shoes (or sneakers), shin guards and appropriate soccer gear. Players should also bring a properly inflated size 4 soccer ball and water bottle. The surface is a gym floor, no cleats are allowed, only flat shoes.
This program is limited to 12 players. There are no refunds after the registration deadline of December 12.
