Elite Teams Win Titles in Showcase Tournaments

SOCA Elite Travel teams have been putting an emphatic stamp on the close of their fall seasons with impressive showings at prestigious showcase and tournament events.  The rigorous demands of VCCL play prepared the teams for success in their season ending competitions.  The program-wide success coming at the end of the season is a good indicator of player and team development taking place over the course of the fall.  It also bodes well of good things to come in spring tournaments and league play.  Below is a summary of various recent events.

November 12, 2012

Boys VCCL Showcase:  In the league-run event featuring high-powered opponents from around the region, SOCA U18-U15 boys earned four wins and two ties against only two losses.  The U18 Lightning got the best of US Soccer Academy teams with a 3-2 win over the Richmond Kickers and a 2-2 draw with Va Rush.  Visit here for complete results:  http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=27986

Girls Bethesda Showcase and Tournament:  In this regionally renowned event the U12 Girls Express successfully defended their title with four wins and an enthusiastic 7-0 romp in the championship match.  The U14 Express and U15 Storm teams also went undefeated and untied, with the U14’s refusing to give up a goal in all three matches.   SOCA’s overall club record at the event is 10 wins and eight losses.  For complete tournament results, follow this link: http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=26348

Boys CASL Showcase:  The Boys U18 Lightning topped the Elite AdiPower division with three impressive wins over competitors from Michigan, Florida and Georgia.  The CASL Showcase has long been a staple of the college recruiting scene, with good exposure for SOCA’s players.  For complete tournament results, follow this link: http://soccerincollege.com/TTTeam.aspx?tid=CASL4&year=2012&teamid=VAM94443

Boys Bethesda Showcase and Tournament:  The boys fared nearly as well as the girls with an overall record of 11 wins, four ties, and seven losses against some very tough regional competition.   The U17 Lightning went undefeated with two wins and a tie, while the U11 Express swept four wins en route to their division title.  To view all tournament results, follow this link: http://events.gotsport.com/events/Default.aspx?eventid=26350

In the final event of 2012, the U18-U16 girls Storm teams will compete in their VCCL Showcase on December 8 & 9 in Williamsburg, Va.  Kicking off 2013, the U18-U14 elite teams will participate in the Triangle Friendlies in late January (girls) and early February (boys).
