Express Bests Beach FC

On Sunday, May 2, David again got the measure of Goliath, as SOCA Express teams earned the advantage on the day against visiting Beach FC.  The two clubs represent the extremes in population base within the VCCL state-wide league, with SOCA being from the smallest population base while Beach FC draws from over 1.2 million residents of the Virginia Beach metropolis.

Express teams earned four wins and a tie, while dropping three to the visitors.  The results attest to the quality training provided by SOCA coaches within the comprehensive player development curriculum of the SOCA structure.

In a featured match of the day, the Boys U-11 Express squad bounced back from an early 0-2 deficit to overpower their guests 9-4.  Coach Craig Brannan praised his group for a team effort.  “It was definitely a team victory, a very good team performance.  Once we got going the boys did a good job of sharing the ball and finding open players.  The goals were the result of team play.”

Both Gabe Kaston and John Sandor notched a hat-trick each in the impressive offensive display.  Defensive stalwarts were Kevin O’Shea and Brennan Ayers, both receiving compliments from Coach Brannan.  “Kevin and Brennan were strong all day, providing us the base to go forward.”

The VCCL season has passed the halfway mark with four game dates now completed.  Next Sunday, May 9, the SOCA teams will take to the road and face Virginia Rush.
