The SOCA Metro teams fought through rain and rescheduling as well as against some demanding opponents to wrap-up the fall season with a fifth place showing, overall, within the Skyline Club Soccer League. SOCA Metro teams had enjoyed five consecutive seasons of dominance (Fall ’06-Fall’08) but have found the competition more difficult since the expansion of the league in the Spring 2008 season. With the inclusion of New River and Roanoke, along with greater numbers of teams in all age groups from the existing league members, the quality of league play has risen dramatically in recent seasons.
Two SOCA teams, the U11 and U13 Girls, won their division championship, with four SOCA teams finishing in second within their division (U12 Boys, U15 Boys White, U17 Boys, U16 Girls), and an additional three teams (U16 Boys, U14 Girls and U16 Girls White) claiming third place awards. Due to the continued growth of the Skyline League the league will now be able to award two Club Champions each season. Two separate competitions will run to crown a Club Champion of the Premier Divisions and a Club Champion of the Classic Divisions. Club points will be accrued and tabulated separately by teams competing in either Classic or Premier flights.
