Metro Teams Open Fall Season

On opening day of Skyline Club Soccer League play, SOCA Metro squads matched-up well with visitors from Lynchburg, Culpeper and Nelson.  Fourteen games were played at South Fork Soccer Park on August 29 against visiting Central Virginia United(Lynchburg), with the Metro teams claiming six victories and dropping eight.  The combined performance for the day was six wins and eleven losses.

Metro Coordinator Kyle Lessig was on hand throughout the day observing matches and offering support to the teams.  “It was a delightful day; a good start to the season, with all teams competing well,” said Lessig.  “There is a solid foundation on which to build a successful fall season for all our teams.  Enthusiasm was high, and I’ve no doubt the teams will continue to improve.”

The youngest girls Metro teams fared best against CVU, with the U-11, U-12 and U-13 teams each posting a comfortable win.

Metro squads will all travel to the Richmond Cup for the Labor Day weekend to compete in early-season tournament play.  League play will resume on September 12 and 13, with a full weekend of play.  Most Metro teams will host visiting New River on Saturday and Augusta FC on Sunday.
