SOCA has been offering camps and leading soccer clinics for over 30 years.  This experience has allowed the organization to fine tune camp curriculum and coaching methods to help eager players reach their goals through the game of soccer.  Whether you are looking to hone your technical abilities with the ball or are just looking for an enjoyable soccer experience to keep time between the seasons, we hope to serve your needs.  There are camps for all ages and topics for all players.  Please reference the descriptions below and submit all questions to SOCA Technical Director, Sam Miller.  sam.miller@socaspot.org

2014 Blue Ridge Residential Soccer Academy

Immerse yourself in a week long soccer experience!  We are pleased to continue offering our annual Blue Ridge Residential Soccer Academy, where we are dedicated to providing U8 through U18 Boys and Girls a week-long, all-inclusive soccer experience that challenges, educates and develops each player under professional supervision.  Attendees will be sorted into different age-appropriate academies (U8-U10, U11-U14, U15-U18) and participate in multiple training sessions daily.  These sessions will feature comprehensive topics that will challenge players technical abilities as well as tactical understanding.  Players will not only improve physically but will be challenged to learn the nuances and intricacies of the game that can only be learned through such an immersive soccer experience.  

The Blue Ridge Residential Camp is not designed for entry level players and hopes to serve players serious about improving as soccer players.  The camp is open to players born between 8/1/96-7/31/07.  Players born between 8/1/04-7/31/06 must commute.

Team registration available as well!  Use this camp to get a jump-start on the 2014-15 soccer season.  Teams will train together and receive professional instruction from SOCA's expert coaching staff.  Please contact Technical Director Sam Miller to get your team registered for this unique experience (minimum of 6 players per team).

The Blue Ridge School is an all-boarding, college-preparatory school located 20 miles from Charlottesville, VA.  The campus, comprised of nearly 800 acres, lies at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains and abutting Shenandoah National Park.  The Camp will have access to outstanding facilities including:  modern dormitories with A/C, outstanding food service, over six acres of playing fields, field house, pool, classrooms and a 230-seat auditorium!

Play fun training games, learn soccer skills, make new friends!  Five-day (Monday-Friday) recreational soccer day camp. No playing experience required. Fun learning activities, and lots of games. Players receive a camp t-shirt and soccer ball.

Summer Soccer Academy
 For Ages U8-U18, Coed

SOCA's Summer Soccer Academy features individual player development within dynamic small group training.  The focus is on technical components of the game with high repetition and precise movements.  By the end of the week players will work toward mastering individual skills as well as learning small group tactics in a game environment.  The Academy seeks to help players establish and develop excellent training habits to facilitate continued soccer development.

Striker - Keeper Camp
Ages U10-U18 Coed

Cost $160
Camp located at South Fork Soccer Park.
5:00pm-7:30pm

Score great goals and save the day!  Master the finer point of soccer's most specialized and difficult positions.  Strikers spend valuable time learning the nuances of striking the ball at goal with various foot surfaces and from various angles.  Goalkeepers are trained in fundamental shot stopping, explosive diving progressions, cutting out crosses, eliminating breakaways and more.

This camp is recommended for all levels of players.  Campers will receive a camp t-shirt and soccer ball.

Fun international soccer environment for all levels of play.  The World Cup Camp is a Charlottesville soccer tradition and will soon become one in Augusta County as well!  The camp creates an exciting and positive learning environment for players to develop their skills as well as enthusiasm for the world’s game.  All sessions include expert instruction and demonstration, small-sided games, and a fun World Cup tournament format.  Players receive a camp t-shirt, soccer ball, and Friday night pizza party!

The World Cup Coaching school runs concurrently with the World Cup Camp and helps coaches learn how to prepare an effective, efficient, dynamic, and fun training session for their team.  The Coaching School’s pressure free, collegial coaching environment allows coaches to better understand the developmental capabilities of youth players.  Coaches receive a coaching shirt, soccer ball, and SOCA coaching certificate.  Instruction provided by senior SOCA staff.  Apply for coaching school directly with the SOCA office, SOCA@socaspot.org

Winter Camps

2014 SOCA Winter Academy

SOCA's Winter Academy offers a systematic and focused training environment for players of all ages looking to improve their soccer abilities.    Utilizing gym spaces throughout the city and county, SOCA takes its locally renowned soccer programming indoors to help players prepare for the upcoming spring season.  The indoor setting naturally lends itself to technical development, shrinking the time and space a player has on the ball.  SOCA's professional coaching staff will help players harness the indoor conditions and provide the technical understanding that has made SOCA's travel program successful for over 30 years.  Specific training environments are tailored to age and playing ability, with each session including technical skill development and small-sided game play.  Winter Academy sessions will meet once a week, on the same day, time, and location for six weeks.  Each participant will receive a 2014 SOCA Winter Academy t-shirt.  Spaces are limited to ensure proper player-to-coach ratio, so register early to claim your spot.  2015 Winter Acadmey Sessions are yet to be decided, more information to come.




SOCA Winter Day Camp

SOCA is offering soccer fun during the holidays!  This program will feature technical training with an emphasis on player development using fun activity games , multi-station training, and small-sided tournaments.  This is a perfect opportunity to keep your player active and develop skills in an enjoyable holiday camp setting during the December break!

The Winter Day Camp will focus on six essential skills: dribbling, passing, receiving, heading, and shooting; with learning taking place through lots of active training games.  Each day will include exciting tournament matches.  All campers will receive a Winter Day Camp T-shirt, professional instruction by certified soccer coaches, and training in small groups.

Registration is done on a first come, first serve basis, Spaces are limited.
This is an excellent opportunity for individual players to sharpen skills and stay active during the holiday break.

Advanced Training Program - Field Players ($72/Player)

Ages U8-U14

Begins:  March 21, 2014
Fridays, 5:00-6:00pm @ South Fork Soccer Park

Mission: the Advanced Training Program provides additional, high level training for the young, motivated Recreational player. Training focuses on improving individual ball skills and teaching the fundamentals of team play using an active, games oriented approach.

  • Available to all players U7-U14 (Recreational and Challenge),
  • Six-week training and game program.
  • Fall and Spring training offered.
  • Clinic setting where half time is technical training and half is games.

SOCA Technical Director Sam Miller and Staff coaches Jason Fargo and Jason Moore along with additional licensed coaches will lead players in a fun, exciting and competitive training and game environment.

Advanced Training Program - Goalkeepers ($72/Player)

Ages U10-U14

Begins:  March 21, 2014

Mission: train goalkeepers from all programs in the specific skills of goalkeeping.

  • Available to all players interested in improving goalkeeping skills.
  • Six-week course.
  • Advanced and Intermediate sections available.
  • Instruction in fundamental, intermediate, and advanced skills. Technical, tactical, psychological, and conditioning aspects of goalkeeping are taught.
  • Instruction by SOCA Coaching Staff-  along with other GK specialists.

Mission
:  provide a one-on-one (one player to one Full-Time SOCA Staff member) specialized soccer training environment for players looking to improve their technical development.  Program is available for all youth soccer players in the Club. 

The perfect compliment to Individual Soccer Training is the Small Group Training program which allows players to transfer the information from the Individual Training and experiment in the Small Group Training.

Small Group Soccer Training

Mission:  provide a small group training (3-8 players to one Full-Time SOCA Staff member) opportunity for players and groups of friends looking to improve their technical development.  This training allows players to train and compete in a specialized soccer training environment focusing on fundamentals, Attacking & Defending principles, group tactics, fitness and more!  Players will compete in 1v1 to 4v4 small sided games.  Program is available for all youth soccer players in the Club.  Players must register as a Group. 

The perfect compliment to Small Group Training is the Individual Training program which allows players to work one-on-one with coaches, train the nuances of the game and ask coaches questions in a comfortable setting.
